Dr. Jason Richardson, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained minimally invasive bariatric and general surgeon who has dedicated his professional life to improving his patients’ health and lives. As a core member of the Pivot Weight Loss team, he brings advanced technical skill and a patient-first philosophy to every consultation and procedure. He is helping individuals across the greater Phoenix metro area take back their health for good.
Known for his encouraging, personable, and unhurried approach, Dr. Richardson partners with each patient to create safe, individualized treatment plans that prioritize long-term success. Education & Training
Dr. Richardson completed his medical training at some of the most respected institutions in the country. He attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine for his medical degree, then served as Chief Surgical Resident at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, an affiliated hospital of the Yale University School of Medicine.
He subsequently completed a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of California, Irvine, a nationally recognized center of excellence in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric care.
Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and elected as a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), Dr. Richardson holds credentials that reflect his commitment to surgical excellence and patient safety.
Throughout his career, he has maintained a focus on innovation, publishing research, speaking at national conferences, and training the next generation of bariatric surgeons in advanced minimally invasive techniques.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Schuster! He was incredibly supportive throughout my entire weight loss journey. What really stood out to me was how much he cares for his patients. When I was freaking out about having to take blood thinners, he actually called me personally to reassure me and answer all my questions. I've never had a doctor do that before! You can truly tell that he cares about each and every one of his patients, and I feel so lucky to have had him as my surgeon.
